A family history record.

Ancestors that I have deeply researched have been entered into this blog. THIS site holds all of the information that will not fit on the below mentioned site. Added information for any person and more people can be added at any time. Clicking on any photo or document on a page will enlarge it.

Note: This site tends to shrink words, add blank lines, and overall drive me crazy. The words and photos will stay though.

Further information that includes 'family tie' charts for each person can be found at the www.TribalPages.com link that is shown for each person and it is direct to the person. There you can see family ties, get to other family members and use options.

This that you are NOW reading is overflow.  Photos and documents are added into text below.
This is a continuation of http://dstfelix.tribalpages.com/family-tree/dstfelix/1183/269/Tonia-HILLEBRANTS-Family

Father: Hendrick Jan HILLEBRANTS
Mother: Johana Christina VUNDERINK
Siblings: 3 found
Children: 2
...

1902 – Birth:  Tonia Fenneken HILLEBRANTS was born on 9 April 1902 at Appledorn, Gelderland, Netherlands, to Hendrik Jan HILLEBRANTS and Johanna Christina VUNDERINK.  In 1946 she sent for proof of her birth.

...

1912:  This photo, with enlarged crops shown, was taken in Holland in 1912.  This is Tonia with her three siblings, L to R: Joe age 5, Tonia age 10, Roel age 9, Annie age 2.

...

1920 Immigration:  Tonia traveled to 'Amerika' in 1920 with her mother, one younger brother Joe and sister Annie, arriving at Ellis Island, New York from Rotterdam on 4 Dec 1920 on the ship SS Rotterdam.  They had left Rotterdam on 23 Nov 1920 so their trip took 14 days.

The passport only shows information for her mother.  The passbook cover was solid black and 7 inches tall.  Enlargements of crop views of the photos are shown below following the passport pages.  Blank pages were not scanned.

 Mother: Johanna Christina (VUNERINK) HILLERBRANTS

Tonia Fenneke HILLERBRANDTS (aka, Tillie FLINT)

 Johan Christian HILLEBRANTS, aka Joe

 Johanna Christina HILLEBRANTS, aka Annie

The ship manifest in 1920, two pages.
The ship manifest states that they all had fair complexions, brown hair, grey eyes and for the mother it states she has a deformed finger (could this be also or in error as Tonia had a deformed finger).  It is stated that the mom is 5 feet 8 inches tall and Tonia is 5 feet 3 inches tall.  This must be in reverse as Tonia was much taller.  The family names and ages on the passport and the manifest are Johanna VUNDERINK, age 44, housewife; Tonia which was listed as Toma HILLEBRANTS age 18; Johan age 13; Johana age 9.  For the youngest two children it is as VUNDERINK as originally it was for Tonia also.  Hand wrote in are dates which appear to be application for or final for naturalizations.  Tonia and possibly mom it says Nov 22, 1941 and for Johan it says Sep 13, 1940.  They are heading to Johanna’s brother in laws, Carl HINDORF at 1661 Holcombe Ave., Detroit.

Tonia's daughter had her name put on 'the wall' at Ellis Island and received the following certificate.

...

1924 - Residence:  Tonia lived at Royal Oak, Michigan prior to her marriage.

1924 Dec 31 - Marriage (excess not shown as to large to scan):

Jacobus J. FLINT, age 22, married Tonia F. HILLEBRANTS, age 22 on 31 Dec 1924 in the Methodist Episcopal religion at Royal Oak, Oakland Co., Michigan.  They had taken out their license the day before on Dec 30.  The record number for Oakland Co., Michigan is 283173.

Jacobus was also born in Holland, the son to Augustinus Franciscus FLINT and Geessina ZWEEP.  Jacobus, aka Jake and Tonia, aka Tillie met in class in Michigan to learn English.  This was the first and only marriage for both of them.  Jacobus listed his dad as ‘Frank’ and his mother as ‘Jennie’.  The witnesses were Fred and John VUNDERINK, a Dutch surname which is also her mothers maiden name, who both lived in Royal Oak.  Jake was working as an inspector.  Tonia was not working.

Tonia’s father had worked under Jacobus’s paternal grandfather over in Holland, so they discovered after they had met in the United States.
