A family history record.

Ancestors that I have deeply researched have been entered into this blog. THIS site holds all of the information that will not fit on the below mentioned site. Added information for any person and more people can be added at any time. Clicking on any photo or document on a page will enlarge it.

Note: This site tends to shrink words, add blank lines, and overall drive me crazy. The words and photos will stay though.

Further information that includes 'family tie' charts for each person can be found at the www.TribalPages.com link that is shown for each person and it is direct to the person. There you can see family ties, get to other family members and use options.

ST. FELIX Marcella 1909-1911

 * MORE information, family ties and family relationship charts can be found at [A new link will be added for Tribal Pages.]

 Marcella ST. FELIX, aka FELIX

This photo was rolled up in a box of Christmas decorations until the 1980’s.  LeRoy, Marcella’s brother, gave it to his middle daughter Gail Christine (ST. FELIX) MOORE who framed it and it hangs in her home.  It was one of a few ancient and large photos we St. FELIX sisters would get out as kids and see once a year.  [Written in 2012.]

Father:  Harry Clarence ST. FELIX, also known as Harry C. FELIX and at times as Henry C which was his fathers name.  1887-1975

Mother:  Mary Elizabeth QUINN, also known as Mayme, Mamie, Mammie & other variables, but per the birth registers she was born with the name Maria Anna / Anna Maria [need to recheck this]. 1889-1976

Siblings: (1) Harold Clarence ST. FELIX, (2) LeRoy Charles ST. FELIX.

1909 - Birth:  Marcella ST. FELIX was born on Friday, 10 Sept 1909 in Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio.  Often records would use just FELIX as the last name.

1909 – City Directory:  Marcellas parents, Harry C and Mamie E, are found living at 917 E Lorain.  They are listed as FELIX.  The directories were considered complete on June 1.

1910 – Census:  The 13th US Federal Census, all information was to reflect the status of each question as of April 15.  The family was questioned on May 16.

Marcella, age at 8 months was living in Mad River Township, north section, [Dayton area] of Montgomery Co., Ohio.  She was with her parents, Harry and Mammie, in the home of her paternal grandparents, Elsie and Henry C [Clay] ‘FELIX’.  Her aunt Ruth, age 12, her fathers sister, was also in the home.  Harry, Marcellas dad, was working as a Polisher and did Buffering on Metal.  Her grandfather, Harry’s dad, was a salesman selling ‘Medicine’, his own product.

1910 – City Directory:  Considered complete on June 1, this year lists Harry C FELIX in the Montgomery Co. directory which is mainly the city of Dayton.  He is working for the Gem City Stove Co.  No home address is given.  This may be because they are living in Mad River Township with his father.  Harry's father, Marcella's grandfather, shows no listing this year.

1911 - Residence:  Marcella and her parents lived at 51 Daniels St, east of Keowee St in north Dayton, Ohio.

1911 - Illness: The family story is that ‘Marcellas parents were having a heavy argument.  Harry, her dad, took Marcella from the arms of Mary, her mother, and threw Marcella onto the bed.  Marcella bounced off the bed onto the floor and died a few days later.’  Mary always said that the fall is what killed her daughter.  Per the death date and time for the illness to show up, an estimate would be that this 'throw' happened April 1 to April 3.

1911 - Death:   Marcella died on Friday, 7 April 1911 at the age of 1y 6m 27d in Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio.  TWO death certificates have been found for her.  The first says, 'Spinal Meningitis'.  The second one reflects the same file number, 23228, but has been totally rewritten.  The second one has an added line which says 'Sporadic form' with the 130 circled.  The search is on for this meaning!

Note by Donna:  My grandmother had no reason to lie about what had happened and she told of the event at varied times.  In todays world, my grandfather would have gone to prison.  In that world, it was considered accidental.  Had he gone to prison there would be NO family descended as it happened as her brothers would not have been born and LeRoy only had children.  That means YOU family member would not be here.

The two Death certificates, plus a 'negative' view of #2 and an enlargement of the area for reasons of death of #2 enlarged are below.

1911 – Burial:  Marcella was buried on Monday, 10 April 1911 in the infant section, the back corner area, at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton.  There is no headstone.  Her location is described as Section 111, Lot 3530, Tier 2, Grave 16.  It is very close to Wyoming Ave in that back corner area.

A map of the cemetery can be found here.

Had Marcella lived into old age, and if so had her brother LeRoy still have been born with circumstances as such to bring those now here, I have a hunch we would be referring to 'Aunt Marcie'.
